“Honour Our Call For Our Ancestral YORUBA Nation”, Old Generation Yorubas In Diaspora Appeal To UN, UNESCO And The World Over

Oloye Orilana initiated the Devotees of the traditions of the Yorùbá millennium, culture, traditions and religion in the diaspora, lobbying the World for YORUBA NATION emergence

The old generation of Yoruba people in the Diaspora have called on the United Nations, UNESCO, and other World bodies to give their support to Yoruba Nation self-determination as campaign hots up across the World.

The old Diasporas from over 40 countries have formed an alliance, making a single statement that a situation whereby Yoruba people across the World had been denied self-rule would no longer be accepted as the people had suffered long denial and deprivation at home while also long-separated from their kinsmen across the World. The league pointed to the fact that millions across the World are linked to their ancestral root in Yoruba land and the religion and culture which brings the Yoruba family under the same united front and love would never be allowed to be exterminated.

They specifically in a very strong term argue that UNESCO and the UNITED Nation should not look away while their ancestral roots which have given birth to a World embraced religion, culture, tradition, and moral values are defiled because of the greed of other tribes, adding that the violence in the land has called for one reason the agitation should not be so ignored by the World community.

“Our mission and intention are to offer support for the preservation of all the sacred places of worship of our ancestral roots, where our Ancestors worshiped the divinities of the Yorùbá land thousands of years ago’ ” “Devotees of the traditions of the Yorùbá millennium, culture, traditions and religion, said in a communique adding: “All these and many ancient legacies will also be thoroughly defended by all  Yorùbá people both at home and in the diaspora”.

The league noted: “This strongly agrees with the UNESCO declaration of language, tradition, and culture of Yorùbá as intangible human heritage and which we defend. Therefore, it is our strong conviction that if these ancient legacies are protected in a sacred way, it will go a long way to be of immense benefit to the generations that are yet unborn in Africa and in the diaspora at large”

The league pointed out that there are international reports about religion as one factor in the current killings, rapes and kidnappings, across the South-West of Nigeria, such atrocities have got no place in Yoruba culture, and ways of life as exemplified in many Yoruba settlement in North America, across Africa and beyond.

“It is defiling of the Yoruba faith and Yorubas are believers in both Christianity and Islamic religion, with all religions practised without acrimony, rancour, and violence. Yoruba land is a land of peace and harmony and has served as a melting pot of cultures, religion, traditions, and ideas”, claimed the Yoruba religion devotees convener, Uruguay-bases, High Chief Ifawuyi Orilana Odumola Sowunmi. Orilana.

Orilana has bagged more than three Chieftaincy titles in Nigeria’s Yorubaland, where he visits every year to pay homage to all traditional rulers and chiefs, many of whom also are regular visitors to North America’s Yoruba communities.

Chief Ifawuyi Orilana Odumola Sowunmi, said that the fact that Yoruba Nation and tribe holds one of the most unique and iconic spiritual assets for the World attests to the uniqueness of the race and the religion in which the race is rooted from.

He is the coordinator of the formation of the over 40-nation alliance named “Devotees of the traditions of the Yorùbá millennium, culture, traditions and religion in the diaspora with the alliance constituting millions of members and spread across North America and South America and beyond. The league urged the World bodies to declare support for the Yoruba nation as an independent state in Africa so that Yoruba traditional religion would retain its potency.

The communique from the league read: “Our movement is a multiethnic, cultural and multinational Organization, spread across the whole world and we are sympathizers, devotees, and researchers of Yorùbá traditions and cultural heritage!.

The old Diaspora generation, whose circumstances created by the old-time slave era and scattered all over the World are of the opinion that with reports of mercenaries flooding to the South West of Nigeria with almost 100 million people and the determination of the Fulani ruling government planning to carry out ethnic cleansing and capture the land in a tactical Islamisation and Fulanisation drive as on-going, the World should be saved of a major calamity which may b=not serve well the interest of one if it starts.

The Yoruba people, occupying the Southwestern part of Nigeria for over 60 years have been subjected to untold suffering and hardship as imposed Fulani power has denied the tribe, one of the most sophisticated in the World the right of self-life improvement and community development.
