Akintoye Refutes News Of His Support For Tinubu As APC Stalwarts Visit To Yoruba Self-Determination Leader Proves A Blackmail Trap
Professor Akintoye expressed his shock that less than 30 minutes after the group departed, he received calls that there were posts in the Social Media that he had made Dr Oriire Ekiti State National Coordinator of Ilana Omo Oodua.
Professor Banji Akintoye, the Yoruba self-determination leader has reacted to news that he allegedly constituted a team to lobby Yoruba professionals and elites to back the 2023 aspiration of former Lagos State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Chief Akintoye described the news as blatant lies, saying it was true that a group of Yoruba elites from Ekiti state visited him in the Benin Republic, and a few days after arriving in Cotonou he received them in a cordial relationship as his people from Ekiti state.
“Prior to their arrival, the leader of the group, Dr. Orire had said he was looking for a conversation with me to commend my efforts on the ongoing Yoruba self-determination move and that he wanted to compliment my efforts and others on the self-determination movement “.
Akintoye continued: “When they arrived, my team gave them a warm reception and the team commended my efforts eulogizing me and commending my efforts at freeing the Yoruba race from Nigeria’s enslavement.
During our discussion at their reception, the team with humility told me that the reason they were visiting was to lend their support for the ongoing self-determination and would want to embark on a major support campaign for Yoruba self-determination in Ekiti state.
Akintoye continued:”, The leading member of the group, Adebayo Oriire, an Ado-Ekiti-based medical practitioner, said he would want me to consider making him Ilana Omo Oodua National coordinator for Ekiti State”
Chief Akintoye said he was elated at the move and was very impressed.
“I swiftly responded that their request would not be granted because Ilana Omo Oodua already has a working leadership in Ekiti State and because of that, he would have to prove his commitment before he could be made a leader in Ilana Omo Oodua. I however advised him that as a professional, he should embark on a major effort to speak to professionals in Ekiti state and coordinate their support for Yoruba self-determination, so they can use their professions to integrate Yoruba land and emancipate the life of Yoruba people”
Chief Akintoye said he refused Dr. Oriire’s request to be made the Ekiti State National coordinator of Ilana Omo Oodua as he had got no record of any previous major contribution to Ilana and that he would be more useful for a more dignified position of organizing Ekiti State professionals for the emancipation of Yoruba people’s life”.
Chief Akintoye said he explained to the group that Ilana Omo Oodua has procedures for electing or putting people in positions and that Ilana has a working constitution that stipulates the procedures for every action taken including appointment into positions and that, appointing people into positions does hold unilaterally by anyone including himself.
Professor Akintoye expressed his shock that less than 30 minutes after the group departed, he received calls that there were posts on Social Media that he had made Dr. Oriire Ekiti State National Coordinator of Ilana Omo Oodua.
“I had to explain to those who called me that it was not true and that the group only visited me for mutual greetings and commendation on Yoruba self-determination efforts. Chief Akintoye ck=laimed he explained to those who called him on the posts on the Social Media that the group wanted Dr. Oriire to be made Ekiti State National Coordinator of Ilana Omo Oodua to which I refused and said he should be given a better position of leading the Ekiti professionals and bring them back home to Yoruba self-determination.
Chief Akintpye told members of Dr. Orire’s group that it would be impossible as that could not have been done unilaterally by him, which points to the fact that the group had lied against him.
Chief Akimtoye said he further explained that he only motivated him into bringing Ekiti State professionals into Yoruba Nation self-determination movement train”.
