In recent times , heart failure has been the major cause of deaths among Nigerians living in Brazil , the silent killer has robbed lives , it has claimed cherished Nigerians in the streets of Saopaulo

Heart failure , known as congestive heart failure occurs when the heart muscle doesn’t pump blood as it should, the blood backs up and fluid builds up in the lungs, causing shortness of breath.

According to medical researches , certain heart conditions, such as narrowed arteries in the heart (coronary artery disease) or high blood pressure, may leave the heart too weak to fill and pump blood properly.

Dangerous and deadly , heart failure has been the real cause of death in the Latin American country since the Covid 19 pandemic started . It provoked havocs in the lives of many Nigerians in Brazil

According to Chinedu Obi , a Nígerian living in SaoPaulo , Brazil , “ A number of Nigerians in Brazil lost their lives suddenly to heart failure , Joseph went to bed at night and that was the end , some fell and died even while they appeared healthy , Mojo fell and died after attending a telephone call from Nígeria , another Nígerian died in the church as he jumped to celebrate a happy new year , a Nígerian lady went to bed at night and woke up dead the following day , Nnamdi fell and died after arguing on the telephone , Olumide died after his exams , Emeka gave the ghost after playing soccer in Saopaulo . Sharon died as he fell at the bus stop in Saopaulo , Anthony , an Igbo man , died after he was admitted in the hospital ”

Heart failure , according to specialists , is provoked by lack of proper health securities . “ Nígerians attribute misfortunes to what is not , they attach wrong meanings to things instead of observing simple medical guidelines .”- say Dra Claudia Ribeiro

According to reports “ Proper treatment can improve the signs and symptoms of heart failure and may help some people live longer. Lifestyle changes , such as losing weight, exercising, reducing salt (sodium) in your diet and managing stress can improve your quality of life.

Attending to Ancestral News , Dr. Madson , a cardiologist , said : “ heart failure can be life threatening. People with heart failure may have severe symptoms, and some may need a heart transplant or a ventricular assist device (VAD). One way to prevent heart failure is to prevent and control conditions that can cause it, such as coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity “
