Bàbálórìsà Adesiná Síkírù Sàlámì, Bàbá king , the founder of the largest Órìsà Temple in the Americas , has revealed that Yoruba language , for him , is richer than any other language in the universe. The PHD holder in Anthropology (IFA) from the University of Saopaulo , said that Yoruba language was used among the three compulsory languages for a PHD program in the University Of Saopaulo (USP) , one of the best university in the Americas
Attending to Ancestral News’ in Brazil , the Bàbálórìsà said that Nígerian schools should emulate the system of education adopted in Brazil , he said the Yoruba language is richer than all foreign languages, so it should be encouraged and made compulsory in schools “ If Brazil can accept Yoruba language for a PHD program since 1994 , what is the problem of Nigeria ?” Baba king exclaimed
According to the priest , Yoruba language contains everything anyone can imagine , he said it is important that Yoruba be made compulsory in schools for Yoruba students “ I have been to China and I saw them still eating with the sticks , yet they are technologically advance , i have been to Dubai where all Islamic rules and languages are not mixed with English , i have taken Ifa to several countries in Europe , still they learn in their languages, I was able to do my PHD in those days in the University of Saopaulo adding Yoruba as an approved language “ Baba King reveals , he condemned Nigerian colleges for relegating Yoruba language in schools
Bàbálórìsà Adesiná Síkírù Sàlámì, was born in Abéòkúta, Ògún state , Nigeria. He lives in Brazil since 1983. Baba king began his spiritual journey in his childhood, having been initiated in Ifá-Orúnmìlà, Egúngún and several other Órìsàs .
Highly respected in Brazil , Baba King occupies several hierarchical positions of great importance in Nigeria, including the title of Bàbá Egbé of the Society of Babalaôs of Abéòkúta. He is the founder of a large temple of orisás in Abéòkúta, Nigeria, and of one of the largest temples of orisás in Brazil, the “Oduduwa Templo dos Orixás” , with 6,300 meters of land facing the sea and more than 2,500 meters built area in the city of Mongaguá, on the coast of São Paulo, Brazil
A traditionalist of repute , Prof Salami ( Baba king) graduated in Business Administration, he completed his Masters in 1993 and his Doctorate in 1999, both in Sociology, from the University of São Paulo. His concerns with the Black Africa led him to dedicate himself to research, using the sources of Yoruba orality and philosophies of great traditional masters in Africa. His research gave rise to books, videos and audio records, as well as lectures, interviews and courses in several countries. The peculiarities of his trajectory allow him, as a researcher, to have privileged access to the Yoruba Traditional Religion, since he is a native priest of the Yoruba ethnic group.
Conversely, Baba king systematize oral knowledge and presents it to his disciples with a solid academic methodology. The soft spoken traditionalist added academics to his manner of reaching the exact divulgation of Orisa religion and around the globe .
In Brazil, Babá King founded , in 1988 , the “Centro Cultural Oduduwa”, “the Oduduwa Templo dos Orixás” and the “Editora Oduduwa”.
The Oduduwa Cultural Center and the publishing outlets , specializes in launching works on the Yoruba Traditional Religion, it gives courses and lectures ; promotes publications. An advocate of Yoruba language , Baba king suggests that the body responsible for coordinating the Ifa and Orisa religion in Nígeria should not relent until the Yoruba language, history and religion are given the right recognition by the government of Nigeria
