Brazilians of Ìjêşà descents , Ile-Afoxe Ijesa , on Saturday , 11th of February , 2022 , celebrated Ijesaland in diaspora , the great grandsons and daughters of Ijesaland stood out as the carnival college named after Ijesa heroes who were victims of early slave trade took to the streets of São Paulo to celebrate Owa Adimula in grand style
Traditionally dressed in Ìjèşà attires, the great-grandsons and daughters of Ijesaland eulogized Ijesas worldwide , they sang and danced in traditional rhythms as pré-carnival kicks off nationwide ..
Named Ile-Afoxé Ijesa , the samba group is one of the oldest carnival college in Saopaulo , it is a group exceptionally created for Brazilians who have traced their origins back in Ijesaland “ It’s very nice to celebrate Ijesaland with Brazilians of Ijesa descents . The Ìjẹ̀ṣàs are Yoruba sub-ethnic group from Nígeria. Ilesha is the largest town and historic cultural capital of the Ijesa people, and is home to a kingdom of the same name, ruled by an Oba locally styled as the Owa Obokun Adimula. The present ruling family of Ijesha is the Aromolaran family with the current reigning Owa Obokun being Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran.
During the slave trade era , Ìjèsàs were also captured and made victims of the transatlantic slave trade which criminally transported millions of Africans to Brazil and other Latin American countries to work for the European slave traders
