Ilé-Ifè , Not For Muslims And Christians – Arole Obatala Àgbáyé

The leaders of Oro worshipers and Muslims in Ile-Ife have called for ceasefire , they have also asked the security agencies to investigate the crises between the two camps in Ile-Ife .

Speaking at a press conference at the Obatala temple, AROLE OBATALA , Olaolu Dada blamed the violence on some suspected intruders unleashing mayhem under religious guise,

Oba Dada noted that Ife community is known for peace and religious tolerance, saying the religion leaders should preach love and perseverance.

It would be recall that four Muslims in Ilare Idiomoh mosque were reportedly injured when the traditional religion worshippers attacked them in a mosque in Ile-Ife on Thursday.

The ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi through the Obalufe, Oba Idowu Adediwura, had called for calm and tolerance with a promise to renovate the damaged mosque and foot the victim’s hospital bills.

The incident also saw muslim faithful protest on Friday demanding justice. Oba Dada expressed dissatisfaction over the entire issue and want the government to bring the perpetrators to book.

He explained that Ife is a sacred city initiated with sacrifice and rituals, but has lived harmoniously with other believers since ancient times.

Also speaking at the press conference, Alhaji sikiru balogun, the chairman ife muslim community, related the cause of the issue to religious hostility and harped on the reorientation of people government and other stakeholders.

On Wednesday last week it was heard that some workers broke into the Mosque in Idiomo area at about 4 o’clock in the afternoon, and beat those who were inside the Mosque, where many of them were seriously injured, the reason why the Muslims in Ile Ife came to show their displeasure at how the rich attacked the mosque.

Religious and Muslim leaders spoke on the attack that took place between them in the city.

Olaolu Dada who is the heir of the Obatala world and is still the head of the Oloosa said in his speech that Ile-Ife is not for Muslims or Christians at all.

“Ilé-Ifè wá fún ẹbọ, òrìṣà àti bẹẹbẹẹ lọ ní Ilé-Ifè wá fún”. “Ile-Ife is meant for sacrifices , for Orisás and so on”

He also said that there was an announcement before the day they wanted to do Oro . “It was announced on the radio and in the newspaper that no one should come out , so it won’t cause trouble at all”.

“The Muslim were the first to fight against our children and took one of the boys into the mosque and began to beat him but the gods did not allow their cutlass to injure the boy “

Arole Obatala explained that the mosque in Udiomo is one of the mosques that used to give gifts every year. They will buy water and cinnabar liquor and they will give it to us during their Ramadan

It is the gods who has taken action on this issue , we have also written to the police chief in the country and President Buhari to let them know what happened

The person who spoke to the leader of the Muslims, Baba Adinni of Ile-Ife Sikiru Balogun explained that “it is a lie that is far from the truth that our children carried guns or used guns during the fight between us Muslims and the terrorists.

The Muslim leaders insists everyone is free under the law to practice the religion he likes, and he urged the Muslims to let peace reign

Similarly, Sikiru Balogun urged the local religious leaders to warn their children who do not understand enough, and teach them how to behave socially.

Sikiru Balogun thanked God that the injured are now at peace and that no one died in the attack.The Osun State Police Commissioner, Yemisi Opalola said that the police have not caught anyone as a result of the attack that took place in Ile-Ife on the last day.

He said Investigations are ongoing on the incident and that the police station will not allow such an incident to happen in Osun State. ASP Opalola urged the residents of Ile-Ife and Osun State as a whole to allow peace not to reign so that everyone can be in peace.
