I Can Help Tinubu If Approached : Chief Bode George Offers To Nominate Candidates
“A former deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode George, has denied seeking an appointment under President Bola Tinubu, asserting that he is too old for such aspirations.
However, the politician mentioned that if approached or offered such an appointment, he would only assist in nominating competent candidates from his party.
Despite being a vocal critic of Tinubu, George revealed in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Thursday that he resolved his differences with the President, not for personal gain, but to promote peace and as a sign of respect to those who mediated in the matter at Tinubu’s request.
Emphasizing the resolution of the longstanding dispute after senior indigenes of Lagos State and a delegation from the All Progressives Congress visited him, George expressed that he had no greater desires at his age than to offer his support to the Tinubu administration.
He stated, “People are merely spouting nonsense about my desire for an appointment, and they need to be quiet. Tinubu is just getting started, and we said my party’s case was still in court. They requested that we let bygones be bygones. The Bible is clear that vengeance belongs to God Almighty, and you do not continue fighting when everyone has convinced you that it is enough.”
“All those suggesting that I want an appointment do not know what they are talking about. What do they expect to happen to the younger generation? I have forgiven him. We had an issue, and people resolved it for us, and I have moved on.”
When asked if he would accept a government appointment if offered, he responded, “I will recommend individuals who possess the party’s knowledge as I have managed the party for years. If he asks me to help him find someone, there are millions of young people who have the energy to contribute and not me.”
“It is not for me because I am not seeking a job. But if he contacts me, we will discuss it with the party leaders, brainstorm, and nominate a young, capable individual from our side who can bring value to this country.”
George clarified that he could not congratulate or visit Tinubu at the villa while his party, the PDP, was still in court challenging the presidential election’s outcome. He believed doing so would betray his party’s interests.”
