Those glorious days when the naira , Nigerian currency ,competed favourably in the international, will soon return,  said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye who added that the currency would be stronger than it was.

The cleric who stated this during the church’s monthly Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, said  the days when the naira competed favourably with the dollar would return.

“The naira is likely to bounce back to compete favourably with the U.S. dollar very soon,” adding “those glorious days will return.” . “When that happens, you will know.”

The naira has been under pressure for some time , trading at around N915 to the dollar on the black market. The currency has been weakened by several factors, including the country’s high inflation rate and the on-going fuel subsidy removal.

However,  Adeboye said that he was sanguine  that the naira would recover to compete with major currencies of the world even as he cited the country’s strong economic fundamentals, including its large population and abundant natural resources.

“The naira is not going to die,” he said. “It will bounce back stronger than ever before.”
