Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, said his administration has pledged that his administration would provide adequate security to ensure safety of Corps Members serving in the State.

Nwifuru made the pledge at the closing ceremony of 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream ll Orientation Course held at the NYSC orientation Camp, old Macgregor College, Afikpo LGA of the State, on Tuesday.

The Governor was represented by the State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mr Richard Idike.

He promised that Ebonyi State government would  continue to uphold the gesture of appreciating and rewarding Corps members who distinguished themselves during the service year in the State

“Let me assure you of adequate welfare and support during you service year. Proper security arrangement has also been made to ensure that you safely discharge your lawful duties here in Ebonyi State. We will also continue to uphold the gesture of appreciating and rewarding in a very special way those of you who may wish to distinguish themselves during your service here in Ebonyi State,” he said

The Governor also noted that NYSC remained the hallmark of National Unity and Integration and urged the Corps Members to uphold and sustain it for the progress and prosperity of Nigeria.

He further charged the Corps members to improve themselves on the skills they acquired during the camping period.

“I therefore enjoined you to contribute your quota; to enhance the betterment of your host community in particular and Ebony State at large. Let me once again inform you that NYSC remains the hallmark of National Unity and Integration and you are urged to uphold and sustain it for the progress and prosperity of our dear country.

“Do also improve yourselves on the good trainings and skills you have been exposed to while on camp so as to become job creators rather than looking for elusive jobs, the Governor said.

The Governor further added, “It cannot be argued that within the period of your stay here, you must have observed that NYSC orientation camp reflects a true

State of Nigeria and it is an important platform for promoting National Unity and Integration. It becomes my conviction therefore that your initial apprehension and prejudices will

disappear for a better understanding of the diverse cultures and ethnic inclinations of our great country and the reason why we shall remain one united Nigeria.”

In her address, the Ebonyi State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Nasamu Olayinka Diana, said with the series of activities the Corps members undertook during the camping exercise, she was convinced that they were fully equipped to go into the nooks and crannies of the state as agents of change and development.

She charged them to give in their best by contributing their quota to the development of the state and to be good ambassadors of their families, NYSC scheme and the country by shunning any act capable of breaching the peace and unity of the nation.

The NYSC boss lauded the Governor of the State, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, over what she termed his numerous supports and prompt attention to scheme’s urgent needs which, she said, had contributed to the overall success of the camping exercise.

“My dear Corps members, I appreciate your comportment and good learning behaviours displayed here on camp and once again I urge you to represent the scheme well where ever you may find yourselves. Be assured that I will make out time to visit you in your various locations here in Ebonyi State.

“Endeavour therefore, to put into practice your enduring experiences acquired in the orientation course; most importantly, I encourage you to take your Post Camp Skill Acquisition trainings very seriously as you all know that the few days training received here on camp cannot be enough to make you experts in your chosen skills,” she concluded.
