NSIB begins investigation into crash of jet at Ibadan airport

Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) says it has commenced investigation into the cause of the accident of a private jet which occurred at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Ibadan, Oyo State.

The private jet operated by Flint Aero crash-landed on Friday night at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport.

One of the passengers aboard the jet, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, escaped unhurt in the incident.

Meanwhile, reacting to the crash, Saturday, the NSIB, in a statement issued by the Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Director of the Agency, Mr James Odaudu said that “their investigators are on site, and further information will be provided as soon as possible.”

“The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has been notified and commenced investigation into an accident involving an HS 125 aircraft with Nationality and Registration Marks 5N-AMM belonging to Flint Aero, which occurred at about 08:21 pm (Local Time) on 3rd November 2023,” NSIB said.

The aircraft had departed Abuja for Ibadan as its destination, but it landed about 50 metres short of the threshold and skidded into a ditch close to the runway.

The aircraft crash-landed into the bush during an effort to land at about 10 pm close to the airport runway in Ibadan.
