APC’s Usman Ododo wins Kogi guber election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Ododo Ahmed Usman of All Progressive Congress has (APC) the winner of the Kogi state governorship election.
Ododo won with 446,237 votes, defeating his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), with a margin of about 200,000 votes.
The announcement negates the earlier statement by INEC that it suspended election in 9 Wards of Ogori/Magongo Local Government of the State will hold on the 18th of November.
The announcement according to the Returning Officer, Professor Johnson Ozoemenam Urama, the total number of PVC collected in the remaining 9 wards of Ogori mangogo is 16, 6247, which is far smaller than the margin of victory between the winner and the second placed candidate in the election.
He added that this will not affect the result of the election.
“Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Urama declared in a room crowded with party agents and election observers.
