Investors gain N31.82bn as NGX-ASI appreciates by 0.08%
Nigeria’s Equities Market closed positive on Tuesday by 0.08% as the NGX-ASI increased to 71,066.55 from 71,008.70 recorded at the close of the previous trading day; indicating a YTD return of +38.66%.
Market capitalization increased by N31.81 billion to N39.082 trillion from N39.051 trillion recorded at the close of the previous trading day, while the market turnover decreased to N3.22 billion from N4.36 billion.
At the end of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 491,397,660 shares in 6,549 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 3,221,797,916.58, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, November 20), today’s data shows 37% improvement in volume but 26% decline in turnover. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 39.1 trillion.
In the aggregate, 122 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 45 gainers and eight losers. MeCure Industries led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 6.93 per share, followed by Learn Africa (+10%), Northern Nigeria Flour Mills (+9.9%) and Cadbury Nigeria (+9.78%).
On the losing side, Champion Breweries came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 3.24 per share, followed by Oando (-3.72%), International Breweries (-2.17%) and FCMB Group (-1.45%). Unity Bank recorded the highest volume of 75.4 million traded shares, followed by Universal Insurance Company (61.4m), Mutual Benefits Assurance (46.6m) and Japaul Gold and Ventures (30.4m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 57.94 (0.08%) points to close at 71,066.64, representing a 1-week gain of 0.32%, a 4-week gain of 5.73%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 38.66%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (+0.11%; -0.36% 1WK; +45.19% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (+0.06%; +0.19% 1WK; +41.46% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+2.13%; +3.43% 1WK; +72.89% YTD), NGX Banking Index (+0.46%; -1.01% 1WK; +74.58% YTD), NGX Pension Index (+0.11%; +0.33% 1WK; +68.77% YTD), and NGX Premium Index (+0.1%; +0.29% 1WK; +42.2% YTD).
