Alhaji Usman Ododo on Saturday, 27th January 2024 officially assumed the role of Kogi State governor, succeeding Yahaya Bello, who completed his second term same day.

The inauguration took place in Lokoja, Kogi State capital , with Ododo taking the oath around 2:24 pm. 

Salifu Joel Oyibot was sworn in shortly after as the deputy governor.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and  Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were among the dignitaries in attendance.
