Former Chairman, Board of Commissioners of Nigeria Communications Commission, (NCC), Prof Adeolu Akande has appealed to different tendencies within the All Progressives Congress party in Oyo state to come together, with sustained bonding before the next general elections in 2027, so as to guarantee victory for the party in the state, and by extension for President Bola Tinubu’s second term as President.
He made the appeal at the flag- off of yet another round of financial support for the party’s candidates in the forth coming LG elections in the state at his country home in Otu, the headquarters of Itesiwaju Local Government on Tuesday, April 17, 2023.
At the epoch-making event witnessed by key party stakeholders, including almost all past Local Government Chairmen, Party Chairmen and Candidates, and other party faithfuls from the zone; the sum of five hundred thousand naira was disbursed to each of the party chapters in the ten Local Government areas of Oke-Ogun region of the state.
He stressed on the absolute need for the party to remain united and strong in readiness for the next general elections in 2027, as conditions that facilitated victory in the state for the then party’s presidential candidate, and now President, may no longer be there come 2027, because of a major actor’s recent political posture.
The party therefore needed to gird its loins, and work harder towards ensuring that the party in Oyo state repeated the feat of 2023 thereby securing second term in office for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The party, according to him “has suffered enough electoral defeats in the state, and therefore, such defeats should be avoided henceforth in the interest of the developmental needs of the good people our dear state”, he averred.
