The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has hailed the Super Eagles for their resounding victory over the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semifinals of the African Nations Cup, describing their performance as the stuff of legends.

Idris said the Super Eagles displayed remarkable talent, determination, and teamwork throughout the match, showcasing the true spirit of Nigerian football.

He said through their indomitable spirit in pursuit of victory, the Super Eagles are inches away from clinching the coveted trophy for Nigeria.

Idris said as the Super Eagles look forward to the final match, the nation, and the government stand firmly behind them while expressing confidence in their ability to emerge victorious and bring home the African Nations Cup trophy once again.

“The entire nation rallies behind the Super Eagles as they prepare to make history and write their names in gold African and global football,” he said.

The Minister, who called on all Nigerians to continue supporting and cheering the Super Eagles as they strive for greatness in the final match, stressed that the team carries the hopes and aspirations of an entire nation on their shoulders.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also  congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria for advancing to the final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Governor Sanwo-Olu in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, commended the Super Eagles for beating the Bafana Bafana of South Africa 4-2 on penalties kicks, after the two sides played for one hundred and twenty minutes on Wednesday.

Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the Super Eagles players and technical crew for their brilliant performance on Wednesday night against South Africa.

“I am so proud of our Super Eagles for finding that extra tenacity to push through. From Nwabali with the in-match and penalty heroics to Ekong to Osimhen for taking initiative to help us score in the match and to the silent hero, Coach José Peseiro, everyone dug deep to give us this one,” he said.

The Governor further implored Nigerians, especially Lagos residents to come out in their millions to show support and solidarity to the Super Eagles during the final game at the Bolaji Johnson Sport Arena and twenty six other viewing centres across the State on Sunday.
