Coalition Of Igbo-British Lawyers May Sue Kenya Over Nnamdi Kanu Incarceration And Handing Over To Buhari Government
The coalition warned: “While this serves as a pre-action notice to the Kenyan Government as we shall be heading to the International Criminal Court to rectify the injustice done as it is trite law that injustice to one is an injustice to all, we are also by this medium informing the Nigerian Government that they have 48hrs to return MAZI NNAMDI KANU to the United Kingdom
The Government of Kenya may be taken to International Court of law over its shabby treatment of Nnamdi Kanu and the part it takes in the handing over of the IPOB leader to the Nigerian government.
The Coalition of Igbo-British lawyers condemning the Kenyan government over a major part it took in handing over Kanu to the Nigerian authority described the Kenyan government action as abominable and crude as it passed all decency and normal required procedure in such cases such that Kany had found himself.
It is worthy of note that the Kenya government prior to its handing over of Kanu to the Nigerian authority incarcerated Kanu as he was detained, skipping the normal procedure of international law by the virtue of his illegal detention.
In a statement issued in the United Kingdom, and signed by Attorney E.R Okoroafor on Wednesday, in Glasgow, The Coalition of Igbo-British lawyers condemned Kanu’s detention in Kenya as illegal and archaic, claiming the Kenyan Government acted illegally as it did not go through the process of law before handing over the IPOB leader to the Nigerian Government as it skipped due process,
The statement said:” It is worthy of note to mention that MAZI NNAMDI KANU entered Kenya with his British passport, and the Kenya government is fully aware of his citizenship status but still went ahead to perpetrated their illegal act which does not only breach the personal human rights of MAZI NNAMDI KANU but also undermine the sovereignty of the British government”
The coalition warned: “While this serves as a pre-action notice to the Kenyan Government as we shall be heading to the International Criminal Court to rectify the injustice done as it is trite law that injustice to one is an injustice to all, we are also by this medium informing the Nigerian Government that they have 48hrs to return MAZI NNAMDI KANU to the United Kingdom and if he has any charges to answer to, they should as a nation that is governed by the constitution, pass through the legal means of filing an extradition notice”.
The coalition added that failure to do this, it would take no hesitation to term the act as a declaration of war, not only on MAZI NNAMDI KANU and IPOB but on all IGBOS in generally, which it said Ndigbo would vehemently resist with all apparatus of law available at their disposal.
The statement concluded that while the process of law is being assessed and international consultancy is holding, the Nigerian government is being warned that no bodily harm whatsoever must be done to MAZI NNAMDI KANU, otherwise, there would be a complete breakdown of law and order even as the entity called Nigeria is currently in the stage of total crumble.
Last week, coalition of Igbo-British lawyers gave Muhammadu Buhari-led government 72hrs to release all detained Igbos citizens by security forces under the Buhari government.
