Gagging: Lawyer Calls On Yoruba Leaders To Wake Up To Reality Of Defending Yoruba Liberty, Dignity And Freedom Of Expression

Unless a united action is taken to appeal to the Buhari administration to release the innocent victims, Buhari’s government action may amount to the elders condescending to the suppressive tendencies and coercive action of Buhari’s administration, subjugating the people and denying them their fundamental human rights.

Yoruba leaders and agitation stakeholders are being called upon to stem the current tide of the Yoruba people’s suppression, oppression, subjugation, and intimidation as being currently carried out by Buhari administration.

by not folding hinds on the issue of Sunday Igboho matter.

According to Barrister, Pelumi Olabangbesi of Pelumi Olabangbesi & co,(The Law Corridor), was speaking during a Press Conference in which he was criticizing Buhari’s regime over DSS continued incarceration of 12 Igbogo home siege victims arrested by a combined team of military, police, and DSS during a middle of the night siege operation.

Barrister Olajengbesi urged Yoruba leaders not to fold arms and watch when their own is being incarcerated for no visible offense committed, describing the continuous holding of the 12 as a bad signal for Yoruba leaders.

The legal practitioner urged Yoruba leaders, not to folding arms, and watch their own being put under the weighty feet of Nigeria DSS.

He said the current action against the Igboho Home 12 is a calculated suppression of Yoruba people’s voice and may bring unexpected consequences of mass arrest and more intimidation for others as now facing the Igboho home 12.

Igboho Home-12: Over 60 years in incarceration.

Unless a united action is taken to appeal to the Buhari administration to release the innocent victims, Buhari’s government action may amount to the elders condescending to the suppressive tendencies and coercive action of Buhari’s administration, subjugating the people and denying them their fundamental human rights.

The legal practitioner urged Yoruba leaders to approach the Buhari administration to pass instruction that DSS should release the innocent victims as they have committed no offense.

“I am simply asking Yoruba leaders to tell Buhari to instruct DSS to obey the rule of law and respect the liberty of the people”, he fumed urging that the DSS should show respite over its action and stop repressing innocent citizens.

“The Court gave a valid court order. Everyone must feel concerned that the country is going down the slope like an animal kingdom and this must be resisted. I am making a clarion call that we must feel our humanity as a people and obey the rule of law.
“This can happen to any average Nigerian. Anyone can be arrested and detained unlawfully under this regime. Today, this is just about the arrested 12, but anyone can fall prey to this lawlessness and intimidation of innocent people when no offense had been committed.

Now, with this development, the country is doomed as no respect to the rule of law. We are today likened to the animal kingdom. Oppression and suppression of Nigerian citizens by DSS for mere pleasure should not be tolerated. Time for the World to rise up to the animalistic domination of Nigerian citizens
