Ilé-Ifè , the Oodua Market In Brazil Celebrates Afro-Business.
“llé-Ifè , The Market Show In The Heart Of Saopaulo, A Boost To Afro-Business “- Says Lilla Brito
The African market system led the weekend in Saopaulo, the Ile-Ife traditional market philosophy, established in Saopaulo , Brazil , last Saturday , 17th Sept. 2022 , celebrated the best of Yoruba Arts , Culture and Tradition in the public.
Tagged “FEIRA ILE-IFE “ , ILE-IFE market in English , the initiative started 3 years ago in Museu Pacaembú , Saopaulo city . It was to celebrate the African heritage in the heart of Saopaulo city. “ I wanted something that will link us with our ancestral home , the cradle of humanity , so I started the Ile-Ife market “ Says Vanderleia Ricardo da Silva , the brain behind the initiative.
The event created to develop sense of entrepreneurship amongst the African people in diaspora has since became the base where culture and tradition of the African people speaks aloud in Brazil ,
Attending to Ancestrals’ Adeyinka Olaiya in Brazil , Vanderleia Ricardo da Silva explained : “ I am an Afro Brazilian, i must always promote my heritage in all I do . I started the initiative during my masters degree , I deepened my understanding of Afro-entrepreneurship, then I realized that no matter how competent the Afro population is , something gets wrong when they find themselves without opportunities , many still can’t attain the right position in important places of works
The 2010 statistics in Brazil points out 11 million black entrepreneurs , but does not actually mention the successes of these entrepreneurs who works with diasporic businesses and connections including culture, tradition and religion .
The purpose is to promote Afro descendants , encourage the sales and also the production of Afro costumes , artes and crafts , encourage self businesses and human development.
I have chosen the name Ile-Ife to boost the self identity as Africans , and as well encourage the spiritual link between Africa , Yoruba race and Brazil .
This market is Ile-Ife , it is to honor our ancestral bond . We hope to receive the visit of Ooni Of Ife , Kabiyesi Enitan Ogunwusi in the nearest future . “ the Arts and Culture promoter reveals
The market event counted with music shows , Afro theater groups , group dances , bands , lectures , West African groups , Afro-foods , costumes and more attractions “ This event is an eye opener , i have been participating since it’s inception. I love my roots “ says Lillie Brito , Afro-Brazilian stylist and designer
