“I want to start by thanking the 58 million Brazilians who voted for me on October 30th. The current popular movements are the result of indignation and a feeling of injustice at the way the electoral process took place. Peaceful demonstrations will always be welcome, but our methods cannot be those of the leftists , which always harmed the population, such as invasion of properties , destruction of patrimonies and restriction of the rights to come and go,” he continued.

The election result was confirmed by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) at 7:57 pm on Sunday, when 98.81% of the polls had already been counted. At that time, Lula had 50.83% of valid votes and could no longer be reached by Bolsonaro, who accounted for 49.17% of valid votes.
