Katsina NLC Joins Protest, Frowns At Attempt To Amend Minimum Wage Bill
The Katsina State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has joined the nationwide protests.
The protesters are frowning at attempts by some members of the National Assembly to remove the National Minimum Wage from the exclusive to the concurrent legislative list.
Workers led by the state NLC Chairman on Wednesday marched through the major streets of Katsina State from the NLC office down to the State House of Assembly to submit their protest letter to the lawmakers.
They are asking them not to support the bill since it will require the concurrence of various State Houses of Assembly.
On arrival, the state NLC Chairman, Hussaini Hamisu ‘Yanduna was received by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Honorable Tasi’u Maigari Zango.
The NLC Chairman however noted that the bill is nothing but an attempt capable of undermining Nigeria’s working class.
On his part, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Tasi’u Maigari Zango assured the determination of the Assembly to spare no effort to look into their demand.
