The masterminds behind this impactful event, Super Staff Brasil, conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their contributions to its success. Looking ahead, they appealed to visionary entrepreneurs to provide support, ensuring the realization of future projects that promise empowerment and cultural enrichment.

Upon being crowned Miss Africa-Brazil, Vanusa shared her story: “My name is Vanusa Pereira Tavares, an African with Cape Verdean nationality, born on the island of Santiago (City of Praia). Raised in Ponta d’Água by humble, hardworking parents who have and continue to do everything possible to provide the best for their children. As they always say, ‘We work for you, for your sustenance and education.’

In May 2013, at the age of 18, I sought my parents’ blessings and packed my bags for Brazil, specifically to the state of Ceará, in the city of Redenção, to embark on my higher education journey. It was in this city, at the University of International Integration of Lusophone African-Brazilian Culture (UNILAB), that I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, a Pedagogy teaching degree, and a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Today, as a PhD candidate in Knowledge Diffusion at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), I feel fulfilled. This achievement is not just my desire and dream, but also that of my parents and perhaps my Ancestors. I always say that everything I do is not just for myself, but also for others.”

The beauty pageant represented a significant milestone for Brazil, showcasing the rich arts, culture, and traditions of the African people. The event spotlighted various forms of expression including dance, music, and fashion, all coming together to celebrate the essence of mother Africa within the Brazilian context.
