Drama As Police Black Maria Conveying Arrested Protesters Refused To Move From The Spot Of Arrest

A drama unfolded on Saturday morning when a security van packed with a number of protesters refused to move from the spot of the arrest of the protesters.

Following the failure of the big truck refusing to move, a number of Police and defence officers were called in to lend their help in pushing the truck to work. It still refused to work did not respond to its key ignition.

The drama unfolded as popular entertainer and activist, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni displayed his displeasure over the arrested protesters saying that Nigeria is indeed a military regime. Adebayo himself was one of about 20 protesters arrested at Lekki Toll Gate, venue of the protest now tagged ‘A gate of blood, a gate of hell’ by some of the irate protesters.

The comedian  joined other protesters at the money spinning spot owned by one of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu companies.

The protest had been organised to oppose the decision of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry to reopen the facility and hand it over to the Lekki Concession Company

“Na military regime?” Mr Macaroni said after his arrest, on an Instagram Live while in a police van. “If na military, make we know sey na military, so make everybody dey hide.”

His phone and that of other protesters were later seized by the police, ending his Instagram Live session.

The Federal Government on Thursday had warned against violence in the planned protest, going further to urge the organizers to cancel their demonstration.

“At this time, the chances that any peaceful protest will be hijacked are very high. Any resort to violence in the name of #EndSARS will not be tolerated this time,” the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed said.

But there is no evidence that the protesters arrested on Saturday were violent.
