NGA to lead 2024 activities with training, business forums

The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) says it will advance its learning solutions and business forums to lead activities in the year.

The group which stated in a press statement that its activities in the year would focus on initiatives and programmes aimed at enhancing its value proposition for members and stakeholders in the gas sector.

It stated that the programme for the year is part of its unwavering commitment to advancing the interests of its members and promoting gas as a sustainable and efficient energy source to propel the nation’s economy.

Key among activities mapped for the year, the statement holds, include upcoming business forums and the introduction of refreshed international learning solution and training programmes featuring new modules.

The group encouraged members to participate actively in the planned events throughout the year.

“By playing a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of the Decade of Gas initiative, the NGA will intensify advocacy efforts on critical industry issues, ensuring that relevant authorities promptly address concerns and pain points. The Association is also finalising efforts to enhance regular communication channels with members through the imminent launch of a new membership portal, thereby fostering seamless interactions,” the statement reads in part.
NGA President, Mr Akachukwu Nwokedi, stated, “As we embark on a transformative year, our focus at the Association is on steadfastly driving innovation, fostering inclusivity, and advocating for the creation and sustained preservation of value for our members and the gas industry at large.”
Mr. Nwokedi expressed his delight in announcing the Council’s recent approval of a new membership framework. “This multi-tiered system is designed to enhance inclusivity via the introduction of new membership categories and benefits. I will share further details on its framework in due course,” he said.

Mr. Nwokedi also highlighted the introduction of the first-ever NGA Student Chapter, aimed at enriching value offerings for student members and fostering the development of future industry leaders. Additionally, the NGA plans to roll out Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) programs in collaboration with strategic partners, promoting awareness and inclusivity within the gas sector.
“Leveraging our position, the NGA aims to become a reliable industry information resource center of choice, facilitating gas investment promotion and enhancing Nigeria’s representation and participation in International Gas Union (IGU) activities and events, contributing to global conversations on gas industry advancements. Together, let us embrace the opportunities that 2024 presents as we work collaboratively to shape a resilient and vibrant future for the gas sector,” Mr Nwokedi added.
The Association also intends to deepen the activities of its seven study groups covering the entire gas value chain, driving technical research, development, and credible solutions on pertinent issues.
