Brazil , though a society of opportunities for professionals , but not in the case of Nigerian graduates recently relocating to the Latin American country , a number of these graduates are jobless in Brazil , they roam the streets of Saopaulo doing odd jobs .

It is not because they are not ready to practice their original disciplines , but because the process of certificate revalidation in Brazil is very complex and exhausting

Brazil demands that professionals having foreign university certificates must undergo the local revalidation processes before they can be allowed to practice their professions in Brazil , but the tactics is really not favoring most Nigerian professionals because of the language difficulties

The requisites are not good for Nígerian doctors , lawyers , accountants , architects , writers , scientist who roam the streets of Brazil in search of other means of survival , many have since abandoned their careers for English and Yoruba classes , some are now pastors and Bàbálórìsàs , some are hawkers in the streets selling African foods , foods stuffs and African products .

The process of revalidation system demands a close study , most European immigrant communities in Brazil are better prepared, they have boards with their various embassies to facilitate certificates revalidation for their nationals . Some embassies sponsors language courses for their nationals to easily integrate the system

Today , foreign embassies and communities assists to help integrate their nationals into the labor market in Brazil , their citizens are able to validate their certificates with less stress , they have constituted boards attached to their various embassies that handles the certificates accreditation system for their nationals relocating to Brazil

Brazil demands that Nígerian medical professionals who have certificates not affiliated to the medical colleges in Brazil will have to undergo its Regional medical examinations to get the seals and approval of their certificates for possible practices . In some instances , the universities that processes certificates revalidation demands that professionals be subjected to another one or two year programs at medical schools in Brazil before they can be accredited to practice

Mary Oluwatosin , a Nígerian woman from Ekiti , who owns a masters degree in Engineering Geo-Physics from a Federal University in Nígeria , seeks the streets of Saopaulo tackling her source of survival as a freelance taylor . Alade owns a masters in Architecture from University Of Nígeria, now an English teacher . Oze graduated years back with a masters in Computer science from University of Nigeria, now sells shoes . Chukwudi , a medical doctor , Olugbenga , a pharmacist are all in the market unable to practice their disciplines

According to Chukwudi , the late President of the Nígeria Community in Brazil, Dr Emmanuel Oluwatuyi had helped him in the procedures , now he is preparing to do the exams and hopefully will pass the exams . Chukwudi lamented the painful demise of Dr. Oluwatuyi who was like a father to every Nígerian in Brazil .

According to statistics, Nigerians walking around the popular “Galeria Presidente” in the heart of Saopaulo are majority professionals, graduates from various universities in Nígeria , they are not even aware of the possibilities of practicing their professions in Brazil , many lost interests , they believe it’s quite impossible because of the hectic processes

Ancestral News gathered that Nigerians arriving Brazil recently are mostly educated and well studied , some have up to masters and doctorate degrees , they have all changed to street hawkers , sellers of traditional materials.etc

Attending to Ancestral News , Oba Adekunle Aderonmu , a frontline Yoruba traditionalist in Brazil , who graduated years back in Bio-Chemistry from the University of Lagos , said : “ African cultural center and other Nigerian organizations including NIDOA (Brazil ) are already working towards this issue of certificate revalidation in Brazil for Nígerians arriving , solutions will be reached soon “ the traditionalist said

According to education specialists in Brazil , the Nigerian graduates from first class universities in Nígeria , such as the Obafemi Awolowo University , University of Lagos , University of Nigeria , who wants to further their studies in Brazil could do so without having to undergo the hectic revalidation processes , such graduate could directly contact postgraduate school coordinators ( Supervisors) in some Universities , such as the University of Saopaulo (USP) Federal University of Bahia ( UFBA ) etc , they can easily be considered after proper analysis of their certificates and a clear certification from the Brazilian embassy in Nígeria.

Brazil is a Portuguese country , a society where official issues are discussed and treated in Portuguese language . It is compulsory that every professional in Brazil must dominate the national language which is Portuguese .
