Seun Kuti Tours Brazil, Sings Africanism, and Claims Politicians Are Business Partners

Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Seun Kuti is currently captivating audiences in Brazil, where he passionately shares the rhythms of Africanism and advocates for a united Africa under the banner of the Movement of the People.

Insisting on the importance of African unity, Seun Kuti continues his musical campaign across various cultural and social hubs in Brazil. Despite the electrifying performances, the outspoken singer does not shy away from addressing the Nigerian political landscape.

In a recent encounter with Adeyinka Olaiya, Seun Kuti condemns Nigerian political leaders, asserting that they are business partners who privately own companies and shares together. He encourages Nigerians to see through the facade, claiming that figures like Tinubu, Atiku, and Obi collaborate in business while projecting a public image of rivalry to deceive the public.

Having graced stages in Salvador, the Yoruba capital of Brazil, and Belo Horizonte, Seun Kuti dazzled Brazilian music lovers at a spectacular show in São Paulo on November 30th.

In an exclusive interview with Ancestral News in São Paulo, Seun Kuti commends the vibrant Brazilian environment, emphasizing the strong presence of African ancestors’ spirits. He extends a message of unity to Nigerians and Afrodescendants worldwide, urging them to embrace the concept of one Africa.

Expressing his vision for Nigerians in the diaspora, Seun Kuti vehemently opposes the use of the term “Diaspora” to qualify Africans living abroad. He questions why Europeans abroad are not referred to as “Europeans in diaspora,” challenging the language used to describe the African diasporic experience.

In discussions about spirituality, Seun openly acknowledges his identity as a traditionalist, having been raised with his father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, known as the Chief priest of the African shrine. Revealing his profound connection to Ifa, the Yoruba spirituality, and its divination codes, Seun attributes Ifa spirituality and Odus as the revelations of Orunmila. Through these codes, mysteries in both the physical and spiritual realms are unveiled.

The Afrobeat sensation commends Brazil for preserving the spirit of their ancestors through consistent cultural practices, recognizing and celebrating the significance of these traditions. The Nigerian, who has been to Brazil, sends his warm greetings to Nigerians living in Brazil.
