President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his deep sorrow and sympathy to the government and people of Namibia over the demise of their President, Hage Geingob, who passed away on Sunday after a long illness.

In a statement released by his spokesman, Anjuri Ngelale
, Tinubu described Geingob as a veteran in the struggle for democracy, a proponent of good governance, and an advocate for economic, social, and political solidarity among African peoples.

He said Geingob’s death was a tragedy for Africa, which needed more visionary leaders who believed in the continent’s common destiny and who could strengthen the bonds across its borders and spread the tendrils of cooperation in all fields of human endeavour.

He assured the Republic of Namibia that his thoughts and prayers, and indeed those of all Nigerians, were with them as they mourned the loss of their leader.

He also expressed his hope that Namibia would overcome this difficult period and continue to uphold the legacy of Geingob in advancing the cause of democracy, development, and peace in the region and the world.
