Yoruba Actress ‘Orisabunmi’ Dies At The Age Of 60, Four Months After Hubby Aworo

The Nigerian household veteran icon died less than six months after her famous husband, Pa Jimoh Aliu,(aka AWORO), another authority in Yoruba Traditional culture and mythology gave up the ghost at the age of 86. Aworo died on September 17, 2020.

Folake Aremu,  Yoruba popular actress known as Orisabunmi, is dead. She was aged 60 years born on October 10, 1960, in Ilu Ola,  Kwara State. The Nigerian household veteran icon died less than six months after her famous husband, Pa Jimoh Aliu,(aka AWORO), another authority in Yoruba Traditional culture and mythology  gave up the ghost at the age of 86.  Aworo died on September 17, 2020.

Our source confirmed that she had been indisposed for some time and died at her residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Orisabunmi attained her primary and Secondary schools educations in her hometown, Ilu Ola, attending Ilu Ola Primary School and Secondary Commercial College.

Aworo and Orisabunmi were married for 36 years.

The former art performer and versatile actress rose to her fame in the early 80s, when her husband, Aworo launched her into the World of acting taking an active role in  a popular and household TV series called Areelu even though she first appeared in a stage play called ‘Ori Ma Binu’, but it was her role as ‘Orisabunmi’ in “Arelu” that made her a household name across the country and beyond.

Some of her iconic roles include ‘Asabi’ in “Oluwerimagboojo” and the priestess in “Ayanmo Eda”.

She shot into fame as an astute and retentive actress whose versatility in relaying Yoruba-based incantations and adages saw no equal during her time. She was incisive and carried the personality of the group as the most sought after of the troupeby the troupe teeming fans, establishing her name in every household in South-West Nigeria and beyond. She complimented her late husband who established her in all their masterpiece play titles and was seen as natures endowed to her late husband who discovered her while she was a teacher in her home state of Kwara, Ilu Ola.
